ROP Sports Medicine I Grade Level: 11-12 Length: Year Class (10 credits max.) Prerequisite: Age 16 Graduation: Fulfills elective credits. College Prep: Fulfills elective (“g”) requirement for CSU and UC.
Areas covered in this course are human anatomy, physiology, nutrition, equipment fitting, prevention, evaluation, and treatment of injuries. This course includes CPR certification and first aid. (Internship at sporting events is required.)
ROP Sports Medicine II Grade Level: 11-12 Length: Year Class (10 credits max.) Prerequisite: ROP Sports Medicine I, Anatomy and Physiology (may be concurrently enrolled). Graduation: Fulfills elective credits.
This course is designed to provide classroom instruction and practical experience in the field of sports medicine and fitness. Instruction will focus on human anatomy, first aid, CPR, taping and wrapping skills, injury prevention, rehabilitation and care, nutrition, and exercise physiology. This prepares students for careers in the field of sports medicine. Students will be required to complete five hours per week of classroom instruction, plus an additional five hours per week of internship. Students study advance course work in this area.
