    Q: What is CSF?

    A: CSF is an academic honors club that recognizes the academic accomplishments of high school students in California.

     

    Q: What is required to be a member?

    • Students need a total of 10 points based on the list of approved courses. 
    • minimum of 7 of the 10 points must be from Lists I and II with 4 of these points from List I.
    • Additional three points may come from List III
    • Students may use up to 5 courses 
    • A D or an F in any subject disqualifies the student

     

    Q: When and how can I join CSF?

    A: You can apply for CSF during/after your sophomore year by filling out the CSF Application and attaching your transcript.

     

    Q: When are applications due?

    A: Open enrollment takes place the first 4-5 weeks of every semester. Applications are due at the end of the open enrollment period. 

     

    Q: What are the benefits of joining CSF?

    A: CSF offers you college scholarships and enables you to participate in community service events. You can also graduate with honors.

     

    Q: What is required for Life membership (Sealbearer - honor)

    A:  Joining CSF 4 of the 6 "semesters" between 10th and 12th grade. One of the semesters must be with grades earned during senior year.

    A senior must qualify for second semester of senior year even if they have four prior semesters of membership because one semester must be based on grades earned in the senior year. A senior needing one additional semester to qualify for Sealbearer may use final grades in the last semester of senior year if they qualify and complete a CSF application in May/June.

     

    Q: Does it cost money to join CSF?

    A: No, but a $5 donation would be greatly appreciated. All students who qualify are accepted with or without donation. 

     

    Q: How is CSF different than NHS?

    A: While NHS grants you lifelong membership (you only have to apply once), you must renew your CSF membership every semester. Both, CSF and NHS are academic honors societies which vary slightly: CSF is exclusive to the state while NHS is offered nationwide.
