ABOUT THE ASVAB AND CAREERS: ASVAB INFO LINK
The ASVAB Career Exploration Program helps students take steps towards finding a career that is right for them. It was originally designed to predict future academic and occupational success in military occupations. Several composite scores are formed from different combinations of ASVAB test scores. Three composites, or Career Exploration Scores, are provided specifically to help students engage in career exploration. These scores help students to get a good sense of their verbal, math, science and technical skills compared to other students in the same grade.
What are the main components of the test:
Multiple-Aptitude Test: The ASVAB test covers eight areas including science, word knowledge, mathematics, and mechanical comprehension. It assesses a student's ability to learn new skills and is a predictor of training and educational programs.
Interest Inventory Test: This is a 90 item interest inventory based on John Holland's widely accepted theory of career choice. When students complete the FYI they have three interest codes to use with the OCCU-Find for career exploration once they receive their test back.
