AP English Literature and Composition (AP4)

  • The week of May 18 - 22 is the final week of new assignments for Distance Learning.

I will accept late assignments through June 2, 2020.  If you do submit an assignment late, be sure to email me, as I am not trolling old assignments looking for late submissions.

I still wish we could finish out your high school experience together.  I continue to miss our seminars and discussions, you know if you head over to our Facebook Support Group, we could continue to stay in touch, I will even let you know what I am currently reading (Note: motherhood has slowed down my consumption of reading, but I still read for me!  It is so important, you should read for you!)

We have done our best to ensure that Distance Learning was meaningful and have you ready for the next phase of your life.  Know that everything we have done was designed for two purposes: 1- prepare for the AP exam and 2- prepare you for life after high school (be it in college or another life path).

I hope you will come and join in our support group for Ms. La Vallee’s AP English Literature and Composition; we want to celebrate your next steps, be there for each other in these different and tricky times and continue to stay in contact.

Number each question and submit through www.turnitin.com the title of the assignment will be Week of April 6 -10.  (BONUS: Submit through the Facebook Group Feed - which can act like a group discussion and/or seminar).  ~If you are unable to upload or email your assignment electronically then feel free to print it out and submit through the A Office at school.

*** Remember your Device/Allusion is still due on Fridays maintaining our regular process and protocol to be submitted through www.turnitin.com*** Your last/final/pinultimate Device/Allusion is due May 1st!  This assignment retires and will no longer be with us in the weeks that follow...

**** Also you have an Independent Reading Q4 #2 due on Monday May 4th - remember the amended directions for Quarter 4 that we reviewed in the last week of Quarter 3.  The amended directions are to craft a defensible thesis (focused on the literature and its demonstration or connection to the quarter's theme {Quarter 4 - Concept of Self: Search for Purpose}) and five (5) quotes each with analysis, examining the evidence as it supports the defensible thesis and explores the complexity of the text.

~ I have added the assignment for the Week of May 11 - 15 early, for those of your who are looking for more this week in preparation for the first week of AP testing next week.  Remember the AP English Literature and Composition exam is 11am on Wednesday May 13th.  Log in 30 minutes early...

AP English Language and Composition (AP3)

  • The week of May 18 - 22 is the last week of new assignments for Distance Learning.

Late assignments will be accepted through June 2nd, 2020.  If you submit an assignment late email me, as I am not trolling through old assignments looking for late submissions.

I continue to miss our seminars and discussions. I hope that you have found Distance Learning meaningful and are encouraged to know that you are ready for the final year of high school, and hopefully we will get to be reunited next year in AP English Literature and Composition (AP4).  Know that everything we did was designed for multiple purposes: 1- prepare for the AP exam and 2- prepare you to process all of the rhetoric that is swirling around in the world today and 3- for your final year of high school and 4- your life beyond high school.

Updated Information Released by College Board Today - May 17, 2020!

    Submitting Exam Responses
College Board shares the deep disappointment of students who were unable to submit responses during the first week of AP Online Testing...
    • Beginning Monday, May 18, and continuing through the makeup window, there will be a backup email submission process for browser-based exams.
    • This option will only be available for students who were not able to submit in the standard process—and they must then email their responses immediately following their exam.
    • These students will see instructions about how to email their response on the page that says, "We Did Not Receive Your Response." The email address that appears on this page will be unique to each student.
    • Any student testing between May 18–22 who can't successfully upload their response through the exam platform or send it to us by email, will need to request a makeup exam.
    • To protect the security and validity of exams, we are unable to accept submissions from students who tested May 11–15. However, these students can feel confident that the email option will be in place for them during the makeup exams.
    • Email submissions will not be available for the World Language exams.
