Hello everyone! Due to the necessary shift to Distance Learning, I am starting virtual office hours using Zoom meetings. These office hours are not mandatory for anyone to attend; however, my office hours are a good time for students to drop in and ask any questions that they might have about the weekly assignments, or to simply check in with me. I do ask, that if you need assistance with the assignment that you come prepared with specific questions about what it is you need help with.
My office hours are:
Tuesdays & Thursdays 12:00p to 1:00p
To access these meetings, use the following link:
PLEASE USE YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME AS YOUR USERNAME IN ZOOM. IF I DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE NAME AS ONE OF MY CURRENT STUDENTS, I WILL NOT ADD YOU TO THE MEETING.
When you first join the meeting, it will place you in a waiting room until I add you to the meeting. This is done to prevent random people from disrupting the office hours. If you are not added to the meeting within 5 minutes, please email me.
Zoom meeting etiquette:
Ensure your technology works correctly. Test before each scheduled video conference.
Be on time.
If attending meeting (not hosting), mute yourself when not speaking. This minimizes unnecessary noise to group.
Avoid speaking over others. Use wait time before speaking to avoid interrupting others.
Pay attention and avoid multi-tasking. Treat the video conference as though you were physically attending the meeting.
If on video, wear appropriate clothing as you would if physically with attendees.
As this is a new experience for all of us, the days and times of my office hours may change to meet the needs of all of my students.
During Distance Learning, my goal is to make completing and submitting work as easy as possible.
Please submit your work to turnitin.com (you can find your specific class information on the "Turn it in Procedures" section of my website if you are not already signed up for it). Submitting your work here is important because it is the easiest way for me to organize and keep track of all of my students' work. You will be turning in all Distance Learning assignments for my class using turnitin.com, and that is where I will be looking for all assignments in order to evaluate them.
If there are problems with turnitin.com after following the "Turn it in Procedures" steps on my website, please email me so we can troubleshoot and get your account set up. If we are not able to set up your account, as a last resort you may submit your work to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Email for submitting work is used only if absolutely necessary.
All assignments completed through Clever.com (Sringboard or ZINC assignments) are simply completed on those websites and do not need to be emailed or submitted to turnitin.com.
