May 11, 2020 Assignment:
Continue Editing SIP Segment
Hello Broadcast Patriots! I hope you're editing has gone well. This week's assignment is to continue editing. Also if you have a rough cut of your segment I'd like you to schedule a Zoom meeting with me during our "7th Period Class Time." That way I can give you feedback on your work in progress in case you have an issue that would need to be corrected before you finish the project.
Your 1st cut will be due May 18th, with the week of May 25th being the time I will give you to make any final edits from your 1st cut to improve your grade.
So please don't wait until the last week of May to show me your work as it will give you less time to fine tune the project for your final grade in the class.
As always email me any questions or concerns you may have.
Take care,
-Mr. Guardado

Begin Editing your SIP Segment Footage
Hello Patriot Broadcasters!
This weeks assignment is to begin editing your SIP Segment and write me a four sentence minimum paragraph telling me how you plan to edit your footage. Are you editing on your phone? Are you using a PC or Mac? Are you having issues finding editing software? Tell me how it’s going and what your plan is for editing your footage. If you would like to share your footage with me we can arrange a Zoom meeting and or you could potentially upload it to YouTube and set is as “Private” and then send me a link to it.
Email me any questions or concerns you may have.
May the 4th be With You!

April 28, 2020 Assignment:
Update on Segment/Continue Shooting
Hello Broadcasting Patriots!
This week I'd like you to update me on how your shooting is going for your segment. Write me a minimum four sentence paragraph telling me what you were able to accomplish, if anything. It's ok if you didn't shoot anything, but explain why. Did you have issues with your camera? Were you struggling with audio? Is there no quiet places in your home to record?
If you did record, how did it go? How much were you able to get done? Have you begun editing?
Please try to have this paragraph done by Friday May 1st. And lastly try to finish shooting you segment by the end Monday.
If you have any questions, please email me.
Forward!

April 20, 2020 Assignment:
Begin Shooting Segment
Hello Broadcast Patriots! This weeks assignment I hope will be fun for you. I want you to begin shooting your segment you've been developing with your concept and scripts.
I know most of you will need to use your phones to make the video and that's totally ok. If you're using your phone and don't have someone to be your camera operator you can always try to place the phone on a table or shelf and prop it up with a book or pop-socket if you have one.
Also, if you're shooting in a room with lots of echo, I recommend pluging in your headphone/mic like you see news broadcasters doing now. It'll help reduce the echo and you will have better audio since the mic will be close to your face.
So again, just try to shoot as much footage as possible. You don't need to edit this week. And if you dont' finish shooting or run into issues, thats ok. I'll help you problem solve them.
Email any questions.

April 13, 2020 Assignment:
Segment Script
Hello ROP Broadcasters,
This week's assignment is to write the script for your segment concept. I highly recommend you use Celtx as it formats dual column scripts better than any free software. However, its your choice, just make sure whatever software you use to please make sure it's still in dual column formatt. If you are having any technology, internet, or software issues please don't hesitate to contact me so that I can help problem solve with you.
The script will be due next Monday the 20th, however, the sooner you submit it the quicker I can provide feedback as to what needs to be fixed, if anything. Those of you who have not recieved feedback from me on your concept, please be patient as again distance learning is new to both you students and us teachers. I will reply with an email ASAP.
Please continue to email any questions or concerns you have about this weeks assignment.
I hope you all continue to be safe and healthy.

April 6, 2020 Assignment:
Segment Concept
Hello Broadcasters!
Call me crazy, but I think our class can possibly still be able to produce and broadcast videos for our YouTube channel.
Therefore, your first assignment is to come up with a segment you can produce from your home and write a concept for it.
What can you do from home? That's up to your creativity. Some of you can still do the segments you were already producing at school, only now you have to think about how to do it alone and at home (The pros are doing this already. Have you seen Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimel do their shows from home? It's pretty funny).
So either come up with something entirely new, like maybe a cooking segment you would make from your kitchen. Or perhaps try to make "Low Key History" from your house. Or maybe you can do a video game review from your home setup. It's up to you.
Write a 4 - 8 sentence concept on what the segment is, what's the purpose of it, how would you shoot and edit it? Do you have a smart phone you could use, do you already have a video camera and mic at home? If you don't have a camera or smart phone that's ok, then just write it as if I was able to check you out a camera from school.
Email me any questions and I look forward to seeing what creative things you come up with!
-Mr. G
