Table Read Episodes 2 and 3 of the Series

    Hello Patriot Screen Writers!

This weeks assignment is to Zoom meet and read Episodes 2 and 3 of the two series. We will meet Monday at 9am and Friday at 9am. There is no Wednesday meet as I have to record award presentations with my fellow teachers.

I have already sent out the invite for Monday's meeting, and I'll send the invite for Friday's later this week. Please arrive promptly at 9am as we really need everyone to read the various parts in the scripts.

    Forward!

Table Read Episodes 1 & 2 of Each Series

Hello Screenwriting Patriots! This week I'd like to begin with reading the first two episodes of each series via a Zoom meeting. This only will work if we have as many people from the class "show up." Therefore I will email you all an invite for the two "5th Period" class times we have this week. Yes that means 8:15am since we were a 5th period class. If we don't have enough participation to have a true table read like we use to do in class, then I'll have to modify my lesson for the rest of the semester which means more writing. So I hope to see many if not all of your Tuesday morning at 8:15 on the Zoom session.

As always email me any questions or concerns.

    Finish the Script

Hello Patriot Screenwriters! So it’s time to finish the 1st draft of your Episode Script. While the script will be due May 11th, please try to get it to your Showrunner by Friday May 8th that way they can review and submit to me by May 11th. Again, DO NOT email me your script individually. Send it to your Showrunner. Only the two Showrunners should be sending me the completed script. Please make sure your script has a Title Page complete with the name of the show, the episode number, a title for your episode, and the draft number (which is 1).

Next week I’d like to begin reading the scripts via Zoom during our normal 5th period “class time.” It will not be a requirement, however, the best way for all of us to get feedback on our 1st drafts is to read them aloud amongst your peers. Therefore, I highly encourage you to attend the table read of all the scripts, not simply your own. Please email me if you have any concerns about participating in the table reads next week.

Write up to Page 12 of Episode Screenplay

    Hello Patriot Screenwriters!

This weeks assignment is to write up to page 12 of your assigned episode screenplay. This is the just over the halfway point of the entire episode as the minimum length for the finished screenplay will be 22 pages with a max page length of 24 pages.

I want you to write as much as it takes to have 12 full pages of the script done. Also please finish the scene even if it spills over into page 13.

Lastly, please have your scripts done no later than Friday evening so you can submit it to your Show Runner. Also make sure you have a title page stating the name of the series, the episode #, and your name.

Show Runners, please submit all the scripts in one email to make it easier for me to find them (I'm getting way to many emails from all my classes, parents, etc. so please understand why less emails is better).

If you have any questions, as always email me.

    Forward!

    1st Two Scenes of Episode

Hello Patriot Screenwriters. This weeks assignment is to just write the first two scenes of the episode you were assigned. I know some of you like to get ahead and/or may have already written more than that. You can submitt more than the first two scenes to your show runner, but I want Amber and Collin to only submit the firt two scenes to me.

Also, please make sure they're you're first two complete scenes. For instance, if scene two is just a slug line and then description of your character getting into a car and nothing more, that's not a complete scene. A complete scene needs to further the plot significantly or give the reader more depth to a character.

As always email me any questions. By the way, I'm thinking when we're done we do a Zoom meeting to read the scripts as a "virtual table read." So let me know if you are unable to access Zoom at home as I will need to have to problem solve that now in order for us to have everyone ready when the scripts are finished.

    Finish Episode Scene Outline

    Hello Screenwriters,

So I forgot to mention in last weeks assignment to label your two scene outline with the name of which project you're working on, and most importantly what episode you're working on. I currently don't have a list of who's working on what episode.

Therefore, showrunners, please  type up the offical list of who is working on what episode of your show and email it to me ASAP.

For the writers, I'm assuming everyone is doing well since no one emailed me any questions last week. So this week's assignment is to finish your episodes outline.

Before you submit it to me, I want you all to submit it to your showrunner so they can approve the story and also help you proof read. Showrunners, you will either approve the writers episode and then email it to me. Or you will list corrections that need to be made and send it back to the writer. Writers you will make the corrections and then repeat the process of sending it to the Showrunner for approval.

In other words, your showrunner will submit your work, that's how I'll know they have proofed your work.

Please email me any questions or concerns. Obviously the sooner you submit your outline to your showrunner, the less burden you put on them to proof it on time for next weeks deadline.

1st Two Scenes of Episode Outline

    Hello Screenwriters!

So I think we can still pull off writing our series projects as we were going to do this quarter. But since this is uncharted territory for both of us, things may change.

Therefore, your first assignment is to begin writing your assigned episode's scene outline. Just like we did with all our previous screenplays, you will need to write a slug line for each scene and then breifly describe what happens in each scene. Again, like before, don't include dialogue unless it's crucial to understanding what the scene is about.

I want the first two scenes outlined by next week. Make sure you proof read your work and that you check in with your Show Runner (either Amber or Collin). If you don't have a copy of the season outline ask your Show Runner to email it to you, otherwise I will try to scan and post the hard copies I have by Tuesday.

The first two outlined scenes are due next Monday April, 13th. Proof read your work!

Email me any questions you have or if your Show Runner is not responding to your  effort to contact them.

    -Mr. G
