    UC Application tips and overview

    Application Fee: $70 for each UC campus

    Application Fee Waivers:

        1. The UC application will automatically check if you qualify for up-to-4 fee waivers based on your parents/guardians' income.
          • If your financial circumstances have changed this year, please contact the UC to request a fee waiver.
        2. If you used a fee waiver on the SAT, you qualify for a fee waiver code (your code can be used on multiple college applications). You can find them on your college board account. Please note, the UC will only accept 4 fee waivers and no more than that, if you choose to apply for more, you must pay the additional application fees.

    Personal Insight Questions:

    How to answer UC's Personal Insight Questions

      • You will have 8 questions to choose from. You must respond to only 4 of the 8 questions.
      • Each response is limited to a maximum of 350 words.
      • Which questions you choose to answer is entirely up to you. However, you should select questions that are most relevant to your experience and that best reflect your individual circumstances.

    You can start working on your fall application as early as August 1st, 2024 and submit it no later than November 30th, 2024. Don't leave it til the last minute - the website tends to crash!

    CSU

    California State University Application:

    CSU App: One Application for the 23 CSU campuses. Apply HERE

    APPLICATION FEE: $70 for each CSU Campus

    Application Fee Waivers:

      • The CSU application will automatically check if you qualify for up-to-4 waivers based on your parents/guardians' income.
        • If your financial circumstances have changed this year, please contact the CSU college campus to request a fee waiver.
        • The CSU does NOT accept any other type of fee waiver!

    Applications for CSU schools open on October 1st, 2024 and must be submitted no later than November 30th, 2024. Don't leave it for the last minute - the website tends to crash!

    Application Fee: One-time fee of $20

    Common App: One application website for over 800 private, out-of-state, and international colleges/universities. (You won't find CCC's, CSU's or UC's on this application) Apply HERE!

    Application Fee: Depends on each individual campus

      1. If you used a fee waiver on the SAT, you qualify for a fee waiver code (your code can be used on multiple college applications). You can find the code on your college board account. Please verify with each college you are applying to if they take fee waivers.
      2. Sometimes, when private or out-of-state colleges/universities come to visit LHS, they will share an application fee waiver code in the presentation- you MUST attend to receive the code!

    The Common App opens August 1st, 2023. The deadline depends on each college!

    • New and returning students who have not enrolled within the Contra Costa Community College District (4CD) within the academic year must complete the online admission application.
