Nursing Services

  • Welcome to Liberty Union High School District's home page for students with health care needs. Our District Nurses for the LUHSD are Christina Mashore and Jana Scarbrough. Christina and Jana are in our district Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm. 

    Christina has been a Registered Nurse for 16 years and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, is a Public Health Nurse, and has a preliminary School Nurse Credential. She joined our district in 2018 after working 17 years at a local Bay Area hospital. Her clinical experience includes acute medical and surgical care with a specialty in Trauma services.

    Jana has been a Registered Nurse for 6 years and worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for the 5 years prior. She joined our district in early 2021. Her clinical experience includes hospice and pallative care along with many years of providing home health services in the Bay Area.

Mobile Health Clinic

  • The Liberty Union High School District has partnered with the Contra Costa Health Services Division to provide access to medical services to students who are income eligible, uninsured or have a Contra Costa Health Plan. Services they provide include Immunizations, Vision and Hearing screenings, sports clearance physicals, as well as health education and various confidential services. Immunizations for School Entry

  • To protect children against serious infections, the California school immunization law requires them to receive immunizations before entry to school. In addition, the law requires schools to enforce immunization requirements, maintain immunization records of all children enrolled, and submit reports to public health agencies.

  • Please be aware that there have been recent changes to immunization medical exemptions requirements. Detailed information can be found here:

    For admissions on or after January 1, 2021, what is required for a medical exemption to a required immunization?

    Starting January 1, 2021:

    • Medical exemptions can only be issued through the California Immunization Registry – Medical Exemption website (CAIR-ME) by physicians licensed in California. 
    • Schools and child care facilities may only accept from parents new medical exemptions that are issued using CAIR-ME

    For admissions on or after July 1, 2019, through December 31, 2020, what was required for a medical exemption to a required immunization?

    ​​Starting July 1, 2019, a parent or guardian must submit a signed, written statement from a physician (MD or DO) licensed in California which states:

    • The specific nature of the physical condition or medical circumstanceof the child for which a licensed physician does not recommend immunization.
    • Each specific required vaccine that is being exempted.
    • Whether the medical exemption is permanent or temporary.
    • If the exemption is temporary, an expiration date no more than 12 calendar months from the date of signing. ​
