Membership is open to those students who meet the required standards in four areas of evaluation: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
At the beginning of each semester, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders who make the Honor Roll (3.5 on a 4.0 scale) will be sent and invited to fill out a Candidate Information Form.
A faculty council will then evaluate each candidate based on what was submitted in the form, review school disciplinary records, and then solicit the faculty for input regarding their professional reflections on a candidate’s service activities, character, and leadership. After carefully reviewing everything to determine membership, a majority vote of the council is necessary for selection. Each candidates will be notified regarding selection or non-selection according to a predetermined schedule. While waiting for their notice, all candidates will be considered "probationary" members and should continue to meet the NHS standards for GPA, service hours, character, and leadership.
Following notification, a formal induction ceremony is held at the school to recognize all the newly selected members at the end of the year. Once inducted, new members are required to maintain the same level of performance (or better) in all four criteria that led to their selection.
The application process for Spring 2025 is now closed.
The next open application period will be for Fall 2025
