    THE BASICS
    Q: When does Liberty's Distance Learning Program start?
    A: The first week of LHS's Distance Learing Program is Monday, April 6, 2020.


    Q: Where are weekly assignments are found?
    A: Weekly assignments are posted under a "Distance Learning" link on teacher webpages. Teacher web pages can be found by clicking the "Teachers" tab on the top right of the LHS website or by clicking HERE.


    Q: When will assignments be posted each week? 
    A: Assignments will be posted to teacher websites each week by Monday at 9:00am


    Q: When are weekly assignments due?
    A: This varies by teacher and is included in the weekly assignment. For questions about individual teacher's assignments, due dates and how to turn in the assignment please contact the teacher via email. Email addresses for each teacher are located on the teacher's homepage and under the "STAFF" tab on the LHS website.


    Q: Where do I turn in weekly assignments?

    Q: Do assignments need to be completed on an A/B schedule (i.e. A-day assignments on A-days and B-day assignments on B-days)? 
    A: No. All assignments are "weekly" assignments an can be completed at your pace on a weekly basis. We know this time presents many challenges in the home and have created assignments with this in mind. Please complete assignments as best you can during the week of the given assignnment and communicate with teachers if students are having difficulty completing assignments.


    Q: What if I do not have a printer?
    A: Weekly assigmnents were designed to be completed without a printer. You can do any of the assignments on a separate piece of paper and then take a picture of it and email it to your teachers. You can also use a scanner if you have one. Some mobile devices have a "scan" feature as well.

    COMMUNICATION
    Q: How will I know when I have a new assignment?
    A: Assignments will be assigned weekly and be posted to teacher websites by Monday at 9:00am for that week.


    Q: How do I contact my teacher?
    A: Emailing teacher at their district provided email (click HERE for list of teacher emails) is the BEST way to contact your teacher. If you would like to speak to your teacher on the phone or via a Zoom meeting please email your teacher to set up a time for this phone call or Zoom meeting. If you are not able to contact the teacher please call Liberty High School at (925) 634-3521. 


    Q: What if I am not receiving emails from any of teachers?
    A: Send and email to woodl@luhsd.net and include your student's name, student ID if available and your student's email address. We will verify the student and parent emails in our Aeries system are correct and make any changes upon verification (phone call to parent).


    ORGANIZATION
    Q: My student is struggling to keep track of all of their assignments. Is there a tool we can use to help them stay organized?
    A: Yes, we have a Weekly Assignment Log and Weekly Planner for students that should be helpful. 

     

     TECHNOLOGY QUESTIONS
    Q: What is Zoom and do I need a computer to use it?
    A: Zoom is an online meeting space. You can access Zoom on a computer, laptop or tablet through the Zoom website. You can also access it on a smartphone by dowloading the free Zoom app (search Zoom in your smartphone's store). Zoom is FREE and anyone can set up meetings. Teachers choosing to use Zoom will send invites to their office hours when students can join a "meeting" and receive help in answering questions associated with their weekly assigments. (Please note - not all teachers are using Zoom for Office Hours).

     

    Q: What is Clever?
    A: Clever is the website where LUHSD students can access their online textbooks and resources. Students can also access the LUHSD website and their Office 365 accounts through Clever. 

     

    Q: How does a student login to Clever?
    A: Students can login to Clever by completing the following steps:
              1. Go to Clever.com
              2. If logging into Clever for the first time  - Select "Liberty High School" from the "What school are                  you from?" dropdown menu (skip this step if you have logged into Clever)
              3. Enter your username and password (Username - Student ID, Password - Student ID)
              4. You're in!

    Q: How do I login to Office 365 if I'm a student and want to save my files in my OneDrive cloud so I can access them from any computer or device?
    A: Click HERE for step-by-step instructions about logging into your LUHSD provided Office 365 account. The handout also includes information for dowloading the Office 365 suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) for FREE.

     

    Q: What is Turn-it-in and what is my login?
    A: Turnitin.com is a website where you would submit assignments for your teacher to view. The website also checks each turned in assignment for possible plagarism. Here are Turnitin.com Instructions for first time and returning users.

     

    Q: What is Khan Academy?
    A: Khan Academy is a great resource for students to look up explanations to a variety of topics they are learning about. The LHS Math Department will be using Khan Academy to help students see examples to use to solve problems as well as provide students with practice problems. Khan Academy can also be accessed via Clever
