Dear Liberty Families,
We would like to invite your 9th grade student to be a part of our mentoring program for Liberty High School African American students during the 2021-2022 school year. High school can be challenging for many reasons, so our staff collaborated on ways we could support our students to reach their goals. One outcome was the creation of this mentoring program. The mission statement of this program is: To mentor and encourage African American students to excel academically and socially as we prepare them to meet their high school and post-secondary goals.
As a part of this program, students will meet with their mentee on an every other week basis and will be responsible for completing the following: bi-weekly progress report, daily planner, goal setting, and monthly book reading. The book being used in the program is titled, Success for Teens: Real Talk About Using the Slight Edge. Students will also be responsible for attending quarterly group meetings as well as a guest speaker series.
Participation in this program will be on an invite and application basis. To enroll, students who meet the minimum criteria listed below may submit an online application for review.
